As promised, my review of Boots No. 7’s new Protect & Perfect Night Cream, which is, indeed, a new line, containing the same ingredients as the Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum. (You’ll know it as Restore & Renew if you’re in the US.)
I’ve been using the night cream for just over a week now, which isn’t really long enough for a fair review, so these are just my first impressions, which I’ll update in a few weeks to let you know how well this works in the long term.
Boots say: "A rich formulation which contains our patent pending next generation antioxidant complex, to protect against damaging effects of free radicals. Includes skin-firming pro-retinol complex containing lipo-peptides to boost and maintain elasticity."
Dollface Says: If it’s as good as the Beauty Serum, consider me a fan…
Being the shallow sort, packaging matters to me, so I was pleased to find that this comes in a satisfyingly heavy glass tub, which has the feel of a high-end cream. And so it should – at £19.50, it’s not the cheapest night cream on the market, but if it does what it says on the tub ("reveals younger looking skin"), I’m willing to pay it.
Consistency & Scent:
The cream feels light and non-greasy to the touch. It has a pleasant, slightly floral scent (I’m useless at identifying flowers, so I can’t place it), and is hypo-allergenic, so it should be kind to sensitive skins.
Application is easy: the cream sinks into the skin quickly, so you’re not left with a face full of night cream which will invariably rub off onto your pillow. Nice.
But Does It Work?
As I said, it’s still too early to say what it’ll do in the long term, but so far, I’m impressed. It’s left my skin feeling soft and smooth, and I’ve noticed a big difference when I wake up in the morning: rather than looking rumbled and puffy, as if I’ve been out partying all night, my skin has been looking fresh and smooth, which is a new one on me. I’m liking it enough that I’ll probably buy the day cream too, when my current moisturiser runs out.
