In all the years I’ve been wearing makeup (and there’s been a lot of them), there’s just one product that’s occupied its own special place in my makeup bag, from my teenage years to now. (Note: it hasn’t been the exact same item all that time. That would just be weird. And also: yuck!). That product is Rimmel’s Hide the Blemish concealer, and while these days I don’t use it as often as I used to, I keep on buying it, for the following reasons:
1. It’s cheap – just £3.69 per tube.
2. Despite this, it does exactly what it says on the tube: hides the blemishes. HTB is fantastic at covering spots and other flaws. The coverage is thick, but not flaky, and it tends to be the product I reach for every time a pimple rears its ugly head. What it’s NOT so good at, however, is other acts of concealment. I find it too thick to use on the dark circles around my eyes, for instance, and will use a highlighter like Touche Eclat or Benefit’s Boi-ing instead.
3. It lasts forever. While it’s not the same tube of concealer that’s been in my makeup bag for the past fifteen years, now I come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I had to replace the tube I have at the moment. Time for a new one, perhaps?
Score: 4/5 for blemish concealment
