Review | Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumping Gloss – before and after photos
Ah, Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker – surely the lipgloss with the cheekiest name ever? I know Mum Dollface was just a little dumbfounded by the name when I threw a tube of this into our basket at Target a few weeks ago, but that quickly gave way to curiosity over whether it would actually work. And did it?
Well, you can see the results for yourself. I bought the clear version of this, not one of the coloured versions, which is shown here. It’s basically another lip plumping gloss, which uses what they call "Superfill Plumping Technology" (eh?) to create that beestung look. It does this in the same way every other plumping gloss I’ve tried: by irritating the lips until they swell. Or don’t, as the case may be.
With Sexy Mother Pucker, the stinging sensation isn’t painful, but it does last much longer than any other plumping gloss I’ve tried. My lips felt tingly (not unpleasantly so) for a good 10 – 15 minutes after application, but although it left me with shiny lips, I didn’t notice a whole lot of difference to the size of them. Maybe a slight amount of plumping here, but if there is, it’s very slight, and as I’m after the full-on Angelina Jolie effect (so far only ever achieved for me with Miss Groovy’s Lip Poison), probably not something I’d buy again.
One thing I have learned about lip plumpers, however, is that everyone has a totally different reaction to them, and ones that haven’t worked at all for me have left friends of mine with lips you could use as flotation devices, so if you want to give this one a try, it’s $9.99 from Target.
