Beauty Products of the Month: November 2010 Edition
Just a few favourite products for last month: November is traditionally one of the busiest months of the year for me, because I’m frantically preparing for the holidays, and as I mentioned earlier this week, it doesn’t leave me much time to experiment with makeup! Still, here are the four products I’ve been most impressed with over the past few weeks!
1. Coastal Scents Mineral Eye Shadow in ‘Frenzy’
Now, I know I’m always saying I don’t often wear eye shadow, but this month I’ve been wearing this one, and I’ve been wearing it a lot. I actually thought I’d already reviewed this, which is why I didn’t bother taking any photos of it on, but I can’t find the review in the archive, so I’ll have to rectify that soon. As you can see from the photo, though, it’s a pale, shimmery pinkish-brown colour which looks very natural on, and provides more shimmer than colour, which is a good thing for those of us who weren’t blessed with eyeshadow-blending skills (and who tend to look like they had a fight with their makeup bag any time they try to wear shadow). I just sweep it all over the lid, and leave it at that. It provides some subtle definition, and looks good with just a sweep of eyeliner on the lid. (Buy it here)
2. Wella Lifetex Color Reflex Shampoo in Red
This is the shampoo version of the colour mask I’ve been raving about for weeks now, and although it is colour-depositing, it does it much more subtly than the mask does, so you can use it every day. I find it keeps my hair looking bright and shiny without making it look unnatural, and although there’s not a huge difference in the colour, I wasn’t actually looking for one, so I’m happy! 3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light
Not a new discovery, but rather an old one I’ve just rediscovered. I use this to set my foundation or to get rid of the shine on my forehead or nose, depending on which foundation I’m wearing at the time. It also works well on its own on days when I don’t feel like wearing foundation at all, but as those days are few and far between, it’s mostly used in conjunction with foundation for me. I use the palest shade available, which is ‘Light’. (Buy it here)
4. Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation in Light Ivory
I reviewed this last month, so I don’t have much to add other than this has been my highest-rotation foundation for the month: I really like the smooth, matt finish it gives my skin: definitely one for the “repurchase” list!
