Discontinued: Boots Botanics Radiant Red Shampoo and Conditioner

Boots Botanics Radiant Red line discontinued

I know this may be old news to many of you, but during my break from beauty-blogging, a few of my very favourite products were discontinued (I mean, you turn your back for ONE MINUTE and look what happens?), and I can’t possibly be expected to miss the opportunity for a quick rant about it, can I?

The first product to jump ship this spring/summer was the Botanics ‘Radiant Red’ range. This was part of an overhaul and re-launch of the Botanics range in general, which also involved some some changes to my holy grail eye makeup remover (more about that later), and I can’t tell you how disappointed I was to hear about it.

I LOVED the Botanics range in general, but I was particularly fond of the Radiant Red shampoo and conditioner. Not only were these one of the few products out there for redheads right now (in the UK drugstore ranges at least), they were also one of the best, as far as I was concerned. I found the colour-depositing shampoo and conditioner much more effective than the John Frieda products of the same name, for instance, and even better than Aveda’s Madder Root conditioner, which I paid around $20 for last summer, and which made no discernible difference to my hair colour or condition at all.

Not only was the Radiant Red range good, however, it was also super cheap. I can’t remember the exact price, because it’s been a few months since I was last able to buy this (sob!), but it was under £2 per bottle, and normally available on “two for one”, which made it even more affordable. I loved it, so I guess it was only a matter of time before it was discontinued, huh?

Also gone from the Boots shelves is their Henna and Horsechestnut intensive conditioner. Also aimed at people with red or brown hair, I didn’t find this made much of a difference to my colour (if any at all), but it was an excellent deep conditioner, which was also very affordable, and which would last for a really long time, too.

So, two great products for red hair, both discontinued: shame on you, Boots!

So sad to hear this 🙁 I bought a few bottles on eBay after your earlier posts about it and fell in love! Ugh!
    Have you tried Tressa Watercolors?

The choices are shrinking here too 🙁 I find something brilliant and it gets discontinued.
I recently purchased the Ulta brand shampoo, conditioner and color glaze for redheads. My problem with it is, no matter how careful I am or how well I rinse it stains my scalp!

Oh, sad! 🙁 I didn’t try it, but I hate when something you love is discontinued… Boots recently discontinued my amazing conditioner/hair masque too 🙁 The one with rice bran protein. It’s amazing for my hair and I’ve not found anything else that good yet that doesn’t leave my hair somewhat dry and tangled. Not happy.

By the way, with the new design of Dollface the social network button thingy on the left hand side obscures part of the article and also the comment submission box. The way it floats means it hovers right over the bit you’re reading, like the labels on the boxes to submit, and overlaps the article itself. If you scroll down to try and avoid it it just follows you. If you floated it on the right hand side then it wouldn’t get in the way of anything and would be visible without being annoying. If it helps I’m on a 13″ Mac running 1280×800 resolution, using Chrome.

Yes, I was super sad when they stopped this one and the blondes and brunettes are SPOILED with range however us redheads are left in cold, swear is hair colour discrimination!

Even my mom knew how I loved, I got a little left in my shampoo and conditioner bottles (had since 2010) and trying to make last long as possible.
