navy blue summer dress

Things have been pretty hectic around here lately, so fashion has been taking a bit of a back-seat. Because of that, I was particularly happy to be sent this blue nautical-style dress from TK Maxx last week. I’m lazy about accessories at the best of time (Partly because I don’t have much storage space for them so they’re all tucked away at the back of drawers, and partly because… I’m just lazy), but this is the kind of dress that doesn’t need any thought at all – just throw it on and go. Those are always the best kind of dresses, don’t you think?

With this outfit, I went for comfort in an old River Island hat and my “sensible” flats: I wore flats because I thought the walk would be a long one, but alas, my usual luck held out, and the second we got out of the car, the clouds rolled in. Lucky I brought a sunhat and sunglasses, eh?

Anyway, we had a nice time, despite the hovering rain-clouds, and as an added bonus, my new iPhone cover, which was on sale for $10, but rang up as $5 when I took it to the checkout, totally matched my outfit. Every raincloud…

  1. That is the cutest hat I’ve ever seen! Reminds me of a grey wool one I had shaped exactly the same that was tragically left on the Madrid subway. *dries tears*

Anyhow, I think that shade of blue goes really well with your hair. Perhaps even more than green? (I know, BLASPHEMY. :P)

  2. Beautiful! The dress, your styling with that lovely hat – and the cover which reminds me I need to look for a new one too.
The scenery is gorgeous and I am glad you had a nice time despite the rain clouds.

  3. If you’ve not seen @foreveramber’s blog before, you’ll fall in love with her at today’s first pic, I guarantee it… http://t.co/OhSCYkI8aD

  4. Amber you couldn’t possibly look any more gorgeous!! That first picture is to die for… never thought I’d see anyone look so lovely in a cloche (is it a cloche when it’s straw?). You’re picture-perfect in blue, sweetie. Always looks good with your hair 🙂

    1. I’ve been referring to it as a “straw cloche”, but I’m not sure! I’ve actually had it for years but have never worn it because I wasn’t sure it suited me, so I’m relieved to know people like it – I’ll have to wear it more often now 🙂

  5. I have to agree with everyone, that first picture of you is so gorgeous! That blue is the perfect shade for your complexion. And your simple smile just lights up your face.

  6. If TJ Max is the American equivalent, I am going. It has been way too long since I have stopped in to see what was new. Such a beautiful dress! Simple is always the best in my opinion.

    1. Yes, it’s called TJ Maxx in the States for some reason… They have different stock in different stores, obviously, but I bought a pair of Kate Spade shoes for $50 in one of the ones in Miami last month, so it’s always worth a look!

  7. Isn’t it a real shame that hats went from a “no respectable person can be seen without it”-item to something that gets you looked at as if you’re not quite right in the head?
I think that’s very very sad, and looking at these pictures one can clearly see why. This beautiful hat turns a cute but ordinary outfit into something special and totally adorable.
    Well done, Amber!

  8. You look absolutely beautiful in this outfit Amber <3 I believe that dress is from Fever..is it? Got the pencil version of it in Aqua/Navy & it's simply stunning! Would love to buy it in this combination as well!
Oh and the hat looks so cute on you <3
