It Ain’t Easy Being Mint Green

OK, I think we can all probably agree that the title of this post is a big fat lie, and that, actually, it’s TOTALLY easy being mint green. Well, it is for me, anyway. Maybe a little bit TOO easy, if I’m honest. I mean, you don’t even want to KNOW what colour of shoes I originally tried to wear with this outfit, but if you were to guess, and if that guess were to be, “mint green,” well, I would have to plead the 5th on that one, and that’s all I have to say on the matter.

In this case, my quest to be the greenest, mintiest person who ever walked down a country road was aided and abetted by the people at ShopStyle, who invited me to try out their website last week. As it happens, I was already familiar with the site, which I use fairly often when I’m looking for products to feature on ShoeperWoman and TheFashionPolice, but for those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s basically a giant aggregator, which pulls together products of all descriptions, from lots of different fashion retailers, and presents them all on one, handy, easy-to-search page. I like it for my blogging because it means that, rather than having to trawl through dozens of different websites, just to see what’s new, I can just look at one site, and see a whole bunch of them in the same place. This appeals to my lazy side, but it’s also kind of lethal, because it’s very, very easy to get sucked into scrolling through page after page of beautiful clothes and shoes, clicking the little heart icon to save your favourites, and then going back and obsessing over them all. That might just be me, though.

For this mission, however, I was shopping for myself, and because winter is fast approaching (boo!), I decided to err on the side of practicality, with a new pair of jeans. As some of you know (Probably because I’ve mentioned it, oh, about a thousand or so times…) my style tends to change a bit during the colder months of the year: I’m not a huge fan of winter fashion, and I hate wearing tights, so around about now I generally start to abandon my skirts and dresses in favour of trousers and jeans. That’s all well and good, of course, but I often struggle to stay true to my style in more casual outfits, so when I found these J Crew jeans in the denim section, I pounced. I mean, mint green AND polka dotted? They were practically singing my name…

These were on sale, and are obviously from the spring/summer collection, but they’re thick enough to see me through autumn at least (And then to re-discover next spring, and feel like I’ve just acquired a new pair of jeans), and last year I made it my mission to keep wearing lighter, brighter colours throughout the colder months of the year, rather than retreating into the blacks and greys I usually go for, so these fit in with that, and also fit in with all of the other mint pieces I seem to have acquired over the past year.

I’ll try not to wear them all at the same time next time. I’m not promising anything, though.

Lovely colour on you, Amber x

I always second guess my decision when I think to wear the same colored top and bottom, but I probably should just go with my first thought. Clearly, matching isn’t such a bad thing! :-)

Well, it is a lot of a color but this monochrome look totally works for you!

I bought mint green jeans last week. You would be so proud of me.

Love this look and the jeans are so cute! I bought a mint green sweater a while ago intending to wear it with my mint jeans but it’s been too warm for sweaters. I’ll have to wait a week or so now or I’ll look like I’m copying you!
I’m loving jeans that don’t look like jeans at the moment – colours, patterns, both. x

    Call me M

I’m a sucker for almost monochromatic looks, and it would have been hard for me too, not to go for mint shoes with this outfit. However, it goes perfectly well with your nude pigalle too.
I already have a mint pair of jeans from last spring, but I’d love to have a polka dotted one as well! So pretty!
