After the boys of summer have gone

I know everyone’s been enthusiastically throwing themselves into autumn for weeks now, but I’ve been determinedly clinging onto summer for as long as is humanly possible. As I said in one of my other rambles, between the house move and… well, the house move, basically… I kinda feel like I missed it this year: when I unpacked all of my clothes at the new place and saw all of those sad summer dresses hanging there, all forlorn, I realised that I’d hardly worn any of them, despite it being one of the nicer summers we’ve had in a while here: d’oh!

Even I know when I’m beat, though, and although we’re still getting the odd warm day here and there, most of this week has been characterised by the rain lashing against the window, so OK, autumn, I get it: you’re here. YOU WIN. Hey, posts about the weather are FASCINATING, aren’t they?

I may not be exactly embracing the new season, then, but it DOES feel a bit like a fresh start – this year more than ever, for the obvious reason that we’re in a totally different place now. This is the time of year I’d normally be starting to think about switching my wardrobe over and packing away the summer stuff, but thanks to my new dressing room (yay!), I don’t have to do that this year, so instead I’m mostly focusing on trying to get back into some kind of routine. The past few weeks have been all kinds of crazy: I’ve only just started to get back into running/doing ANY kind of exercise at all after a long (looooong) break, and outfit photos have been really hit and miss, hence the crappy indoor shot below, but, you know, we’ll get there. Eventually.

And hey: it’s only, what, eight months until Spring? Not that I’m counting…
