OK, so this whole “constant cardigan” thing is just starting to get embarrassing now, isn’t it? I mean, you know how some fashion bloggers do features where they’ll wear a week’s worth of dresses, or a month-long ‘remix’ challenge or something? I’m basically doing a year of cardigans, aren’t I? For no reason.

I HAD hoped not to have to show you this particular cardigan again for a while, but then again, I’d ALSO hoped that August would still be summer, whereas August itself had other ideas. It turns out August has always secretly wanted to be autumn, you see, and this year it finally achieved its goal, with the past couple of weeks being way, WAY too cold for the wearing of strappy sundresses without some kind of cover-up.

Not that this is a sundress, mind you. Actually, this isn’t even a DRESS, although it looks like one: it’s a cunning little top-and-skirt combo, which is just the best idea ever. I love the way it looks as a dress, but I also love the fact that I’ll be able to wear the top part with jeans/capri pants/other skirts, and I can wear the skirt with other tops. Like, I could wear the skirt with a Hell Bunny cardigan, say. And I could wear the top with… a Hell Bunny cardigan. And I will, and you know it. Actually, Trashy Diva themselves sell Hell Bunny cardigans now. It’s a one-stop-Forever-Amber shop, for sure.

For now, though, I’m wearing the two together (with a YOU KNOW WHAT), and I have just two more things to say about them:

1. The skirt has pockets: WIN.

2. The top has adjustable straps – and not the “bra strap” style ones with a plastic “slider” on them, but button-on straps, which you can choose a variety of different lengths for. As someone who spends most of her time in strappy dresses yanking the straps back up onto my shoulders, I really appreciate little details like that: they’re so simple, but they make such a difference.

Oh, and the colour also matches my shoes. You know how much I love a good match on the shoe front… Trashy Diva floral dress

That outfit is gorgeous! Little details such as the adjustable straps and the pockets on the skirt do make the difference. A cardigan is an absolute necessity at the moment so you keep wearing them!

    And those heels? Hubba hubba!

First I must say that Turquoise happens to be one of my most FAVORITE colors! I have always wanted a Turquoise Jeep with a pink interior. My plans are to paint my kitchen in those colors as well. My husband will love it. I told him he had better if he wants me to continue baking for him.
Those shoes are completely Gorgeous! They go perfect with your skirt combo! And your hair…and your cardi…;-)
Pockets are a plus with me seeing as I am always wanting to dab on some lip gloss. Much easier than digging through my handbag for it.
      Have a LOVELY day!

  • I totally agree with you, Amber. This summer I couldn’t wear my pretty dresses either :( . I am already lookiing for my puffer jacket in stores in august. That´s SO sad. :*

Lovely outfit! I love the fact it’s separates too, you should do more outfits where you style then individually:) although I’m slightly worried that it’s nearly time that you can’t show bare legs in public without getting frostbite. exaggeration but autumn is definitely on it’s way:( I already miss summer!

Ah, yeah, I was actually a bit worried I wouldn’t get to wear them at all because it got so cold! I’m crossing my fingers for an Indian summer, so I can hopefully wear them again!

  • Eloise says:

Ah I thought this was a dress! It’s a gorgeous print though, and anything with pockets is a win for me!

    xx

That shade of aqua is such a stunning contrast to your hair! And don’t worry, cardis rock!

I have to say you have great cardigans, and I think that pairing them with strappy dresses is ingenious, really it is. Plus I love Cardigans, so it’s never “oh, Ambers got another Hell Bunny Cardigan on. And more “Oooh, Ambers got on a cardigan, I need one of those cardigans, because it looks great on her so surely it will look amazing on me as well.” And that top/skirt/dress is adorable! And I would love to see you remix these, because I buy seperates and then never seperate them I just always wear them together, and then say to people “bet you thought this was a dress?” “Nope it’s seperates, I can wear them with other things like how people wear dresses under sweaters and it looks like a skirt only it isn’t really but this is so I can” but then I never do.

Oh I am anxious to see the separates apart also. I don’t mind all the cardigans. They are just so darn convenient and practical! At least you have a nice assortment of colors. :-)

  • Nina says:

Don’t worry about wearing your Hell Bunny cardigans, they look great and since you love them you should wear them. I hate that August decided to go against the nature… Now I have a cold, and I need to wear a cardigan and a COAT! Oh, and a big fuzzy scarf meant for wintertime…

    Loved the outfit! :D

  • Cat says:

This is so adorable! I know what you mean about the cardigan… I have one JCrew style sweater (their wool Tippi) that I wear over and over again. But hey, if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

I thought it was a dress – how clever! I did notice that your shoes matched perfectly.

  • Heather says:

you look lovely as always! and love the strap detail, never heard of them being adjusted by buttons before.

i’m a cardigan girl myself, so no judgement here!

  • CiCi says:

Skirt and top combos for the win! Not only practical, but for those of us that aren’t a ‘uniform’ shape throughout our torsos, it’s great to be able to mix and match sizes. I am yet to try anything from Trashy Diva, mostly for fear of the cost-per-use, but gaze longingly at their website once in a while… this little set is so lovely. And adjustable straps and pockets… sigh. And nothing wrong with a thriving cardigan collection… what else can you do on this island? It’s August and I’m currently watching people walk by the window in full winter coats with umbrellas… If that’s not cardigan weather…

  • Sitting working away in a big wooly thick cardigan now – and every day those days! :) Love the dress print! You look fab – always xx

  • Oh my G! That’s a lovely dress! I love it. And btw, you look lovely.

  • Gaelle says:

    Oooh I love this dress!

I agree we have been deprived of hot sun this summer… Guess the only answer is: escape for an autumn getaway somewhere warm & sunny!

I’m launching a small fashion accessories and jewellery business – a mix between a surprise box delivered to your door, and a “traditional” online store… I was wondering if I could send you our first edition to hear your thoughts?

  • So beautiful! I love this outfit on you! I didn’t even notice this Trixie top and skirt in the turquoise floral until now even though I’ve been haunting the TD website. This combo looks amazing! <3 I really love that Trixie on you!
