stripe skirt and chambray skirt

All credit/blame for this outfit has to go to Pinterest. I was browsing the site with my morning coffee (as you do), and I noticed the same outfit kept coming up. Not EXACTLY the same outfit, you understand: there were quite a few different photos, but all of them seemed to involve chambray shirts, stripe pencil skirts, and sometimes a black/navy sweater. I dunno: I guess someone I follow on Pinterest was on a chambray shirt spree that morning? Who knows.

“Wait a minute!” I thought. “I have a chambray shirt! And I have a stripe pencil skirt! And if the people on Pinterest jumped off a cliff, I’d jump, too!”

So this outfit was born. I felt like SUCH a fashion blogger, seriously. I also felt a bit like I was going to work in an office or something, to be completely honest. And now I come to think of it, I guess most of those pins I was looking at were aimed at people with more traditional jobs than mine? Or something?

In other news, we finally got the green light from NHBC on our blocked drain repairs, after 12 days without adequate plumbing in the house, and a week’s worth of daily phonecalls chasing them up, and doing everything short of begging them to please let us fix our pipes, so I don’t have to go down three floors every time I want to use the bathroom in the night. Then we just flat-out begged. Anyway, the good news is that it WILL be getting fixed, and we won’t be having to pay for it. The not-so-good news is that we don’t have a date for that to happen yet, so in the meantime, it looks like there’s a whole lot more stair-climbing in store…

  1. I think it might be more you were brainwashed by Pinterest… But who cares, it looks good! I’d wear this on a average day, to be honest. Glad your floors getting fixed… Sometime… Sounds a bit like my dodgy rotten window that I’ve been warned not to breathe on or it might fall out (true story). Two months wait and counting… But that’s renting for you!

  2. Just think of what all that stair climbing will do for your legs and butt. Seriously.
And I too have succumbed to the hypnotizing nature of Pinterest and have been brainwashed into copying an outfit. There’s actually an entire blog I follow called Pinterest Told Me To. So it must be a common issue. But I do like this outfit.

  3. After an hour on Pinterest, I find myself convinced that I would look fantastic in the most amazing combinations of clothes – trying similar ones on in shops is always a trip back to reality. At least you look good in yours, Amber! 😉
