casual autumn outfit - biker jacket and jeans

I know autumn doesn’t technically start until September 22nd, but you wouldn’t have known it in Glasgow earlier this week.

The drizzle started almost as soon as we arrived, and I feel like it’s probably going to last for the rest of my life the year at this point, although that could just be my inner pessimist talking. Anyway, I know I talk about the weather far too much here (Although, in fairness, it’s pretty hard NOT to mention the weather on a UK fashion blog: it has such an impact on what you wear every day!), so on to the outfit!

One of the few good things about autumn, as far as I’m concerned (Aaaand, there I go, talking about it AGAIN!) is the fact that I get to wear my beloved black biker jacket again. Regular readers will probably recognise this from LAST year’s autumn/winter posts, but hey: at least it’s earning its keep, huh? This is a fairly typical casual autumn look for me: camel and black is one of my all-time favourite colour combinations (second only to green and … well, MORE green), and I always think it works particularly well at this time of year.

Luckily, on this particular occasion, although it was cool enough for the jacket, it’s still warm enough for pumps: the real challenge for me, sartorially speaking, comes when boot season finally rolls around, and every single outfit has to be built around a pair of thick tights and/or winter boots: I’m NOT looking forward to that at all, but what can you do, people. Winter is coming, after all – winter is most definitely coming…

  1. Keeping it chic and sassy! I love the idea of working with just tan and black for an outfit. ‘Working with’? Apparently I treat getting dressed like a job now. Anyway, yay for leather jackets. Just picked up an adorable (fake) one in the Lindybop sale and it’s reminded me how awesome they can be.

  2. I can’t wait to get my black biker jacket out this year. Even though the weather on the East coast of Scotland has also turned to rain it’s still too warm and sticky for any sort of jacket. It’ll probably be too warm until it’s too cold for it…

  3. I love this outfit! I’m one of those people that dread the end of summer. I like autumn, but I have an inability to appreciate it because afterwards comes winter and I can’t quite get my head around the fact that after that comes spring & summer again. Winter lasts forever in Michigan. Anyways, the shoes and jacket are so great…even if they are a bit autumnish. 😉

  4. I have a black biker jacket ready to bust out too, it looks great with the tan (must make a mental note of that combo – oo, isn’t that what Pinterest is for? I haven’t used that in ages!). It does feel pretty Autumnal here in Wales too, we had drizzle yesterday and it was a bit chilly. Summer’s over, kids! x

  5. I’m curious why Cici and Porcelina say the colour combination is Black and Tan, when they are clearly black and camel, do you not have camel which is more like a soft toffee colour, while tan is more orange/brown?

  6. I love the outfit! Here in the southern & coastal part of Maine, USA, summer is still hanging on, though the nights are getting cool enough to needs blankets. I noticed your feet are bare. Every time I wear pumps that way my feet feel sweaty and I get blisters. Do you have any secrets? (I know there are products bicyclists can use to prevent chafing so I thought I’d ask.)
