So, I totally forgot about my plan to make August 3rd of every year the official Red Gingham Skirt Day

…mostly because it was one of the stupidest ideas I’ve had in a long time, and I speak as someone with a LOT of stupid ideas bubbling away in her head, so you can trust me on that one.

But yeah, Red Gingham Skirt Day: it was really just my way of trying to justify the fact that every time I wear this skirt, I style it in almost exactly the same way as the LAST time. I’ve been doing it for years now, but the thing is, I still love the skirt, and and I STILL don’t have much of an inclination to style it any differently, so here we are, another year older, and still wearing that same damn skirt. Well, it may not be August 3rd, but I guess ANY day can be a Red Gingham Skirt Day if you really want it to (In fact, EVERY day could be a RGSD, couldn’t it? Now THAT would be a challenge, people…), so let the record show that I did, indeed, break out the old faithful skirt this summer, and I have to admit to feeling a little bit smug about it, because this year I wore it with a blue top, rather than a white top, like I usually do: I mean, that’s TOTALLY different, right?

Just for the hell of it, here are all of the other appearances of the red gingham skirt over the years:

And how will I wear the skirt in 2017? Well, probably with either a knotted shirt of some description, or a white top, let’s be honest: but only time will tell…

  1. The knotted shirt is such a winner for me with a full skirt, I have been trying that out too. I love it! So, keep the skirt coming in slightly different incarnations. x
