So, as I mentioned in Friday’s post, last week Boden sent me a super-exciting package filled with items from their current collection: it was one of the best days of my life so far, and I’m not even joking, seriously.

The mint green coat and sweater from that package will be the subjects of their own post very soon, but on a particularly miserable day last week, I decided to have a bit of a styling session with the other items I was sent: here’s how I got on…

The Cashmere Crew Neck Jumper

Er, yeah… I might have gotten a little bit carried away here. Sorry about that. Anyway!

I know I gushed a LOT about my new coat in my last post, but honestly, I love this sweater almost as much. It’s the perfect shade of green, the perfect fit (not too tight, not too baggy), and it’s just the softest, snuggliest thing ever, basically. It’s now my ambition in life to own it in every colour it comes in, and I’m honestly not joking about that either – it’s an actual life goal of mine. Well, some people want to change the world, others want to own a super-soft cashmere sweater in a rainbow of different colours* – so?

(*Except red. I don’t do red…)

Boden classic shirt in ivory and navy spot - review

The Classic Shirt

Those of you who’ve been paying attention and/or stalking me might recall me buying a shirt like this from Boden last year… and you might therefore be wondering why on earth I’d need another, virtually identical one? I’m going to just pretend for a moment that “why do you need more than one polka dot shirt?” is a reasonable question, and fess up to taking that shirt on holiday with me to Tenerife, where it was the victim of a tragic, sunscreen-related incident which I’d rather not talk about, if it’s all the same to you. I tried my best to save it, but that shirt was never the same again, unfortunately, so I was relieved to find that Boden have re-released it for this season!

This version of the classic shirt comes in a navy/ivory spot print: the navy, however, is such a dark shade that it will easily pass as black, and even I, who have a bit of a “thing” about wearing navy and black together, had absolutely no qualms about pairing it with these black capri pants. Oh, and it’ll work with navy too, obviously: bonus!

The Statement Sweatshirt

Being the polka dot addict that I am, I loved the statement sweatshirt at first sight – and loved it just as much when it arrived, and I discovered that, yes, it really was every bit as cute as it looked on the website. This is such a great, casual piece, which is really fun to wear – and I would know, because I’ve already worn it a couple of times since it arrived, and have now started to worry how I’ll cope when I inevitably spill coffee or red wine on it at some point. (Oh, hey, did I mention that I followed up my ‘soaking my entire office in coffee‘ trick by dropping salad dressing on my favourite pair of jeans? Because I did that, folks. They’re drying as we speak: pray for them, please…) I love the fact that it’s casual without being boring, and I also love the fact that it comes in navy and gold, too. NOT that I’m saying you should buy them both, obviously: I would never lead you into temptation like that.

(I am totally saying you should buy them both, btw. You know it makes sense.)

Mwah

Thanks to Boden for sending me these pieces to style: look out for some more, either later this week, or whenever it stops raining…

  1. I love that you seem to be having such fun in these pictures. Am off to check the Boden website for more lovely clothes. Bye!

  2. Love the polka dot shirt with Capri pants – very Audrey, so I’m glad they put it back on for this year after the demise of its sister. Boden style really suits you and I can’t wait to see the mint green coat post. Loving your energy in these images too

  3. Did you know that yesterday was polka dot day? I really do appreciate your love for polka dot because you’re the only one I know that does

  4. I love all of these pieces, especially that sweater. Green is my favourite but having one in every colour would make my heart sing! Boden doesn’t exist in Canada… too bad because they have some beautiful clothes!!!

  5. I have just popped over to have a look at the mint green coat and just had to buy it. The colour is my absolute favourite so it would have been rude not to and at half price, why not? Thanks Amber x

  6. YASSSSSSS, she’s back! These are some of the best, happiest, most personality-filled photos I’ve ever seen of you, lady – particularly the green sweater ones.

I bought my first Boden item of clothing recently – a pair of jeans in the sale. They’re perfect at the waist, but about six inches too long because middle class mums are clearly freakishly tall.

  7. Hi Amber, did you try washing-up liquid on your jeans? I always use it on oily (and other) stains. Has saved a lot of my clothes. Even works on ties and shirts.

  8. What great outfits! Really stylish as always! On the subject of spills, have you ever tried Vanish Gold gel stain remover? It works for me every time and I’ve tried it on a variety of stains. I have sensitive skin and can’t use biological powder but the Vanish doesn’t upset my skin and seems effective.

  9. Amber,
I love all of your Boden clothes. I have a blue and white polka dot shirt from them that I love. Also, I have some aqua loafers that are divine. I know you’ve said that your brick wall is wallpaper but it looks so real😊

    1. Well, yeah, if I was going outside… This was for an indoor photoshoot, though, purely to show the clothes – as I said in the intro. Do you really get chilblains in your own home? 😮😮😮
