Well, so much for that whole ‘I’m totally going to start doing outfit-of-the-day’ posts thing, huh?
I really did have the best of intentions: I was going to post an outfit every day this week, and the idea was that those posts would be kind of like an old-fashioned ‘diary’ entry every day, too. So, I’d show you what I was wearing (or what I’d been wearing, anyway: getting the posts up on the same day the photos were taken is possibly a little bit ambitious…), and then, because there’s not always a whole lot you can say about
some most outfits, I’d write about whatever was on mind that day. So it would be just like dem good ol’ days of the internet, basically: the days when bloggers just wrote about whatever was going on in their lives, and the days were long and filled with sunshine and laughter. The grass was greener back then, too. And children had respect for their elders, I’ll tell you that for nothing. Wait, I’ve slipped into my “cantankerous old lady” persona: sorry about that…
That was the plan, anyway. Then this week happened, and this week has been mostly about tinkering with the blog template, which has been WAY, WAY more problematic than we’d expected (and yeah, I know, I know, there’s still stuff not working properly: I’m on it, I promise!), and trying to meet the deadlines for the various projects that piled up while I was on holiday. And no one wants to read about that stuff, do they? Which is the main reason I don’t really do those ‘here’s what I did today’ posts any more: people think they’ll be filled with International Men of Mystery, Random Acts of Stupidity and whatnot, but really they’d just be all, “Today I sat at my desk and wrote blog posts.” Shame.
So, I’ll be back tomorrow with another outfit, and maybe by then something interesting will have happened for me to write about. I mean, probably not, but I live in hope. It IS October, after all, and I DO have a haunted house next door to me, so you never know!*
(*You kinda DO, though, don’t you?)
In the meantime, I leave you with the most basic of all basic outfits: the classic ‘jeans, stripes and trench’ look. If it’s autumn and I’m doing something I feel the need to dress relatively casually for, this – or some variation on it – is probably what I’ll be wearing. Sometimes I swap the jeans for trousers, the trench for a longer trench, the heels for flats and the stripe top for… another stripe top… but the end result is always pretty much the same. It’s my autumn uniform, in other words, and if I manage to keep up these daily posts, you’ll probably be seeing it again. And again. And a few more times for luck.
