Casual winter outfit: blue jeans, green leather biker jacket and high heel ankle boots

I’m back in business, folks: well, sort of…

… I mean, it’s February 19th: this is my first outfit post of the year (Actually, it’s my first outfit post since LAST NOVEMBER, GOD), and it’s just a boring jeans-n-sweater combo, so I feel a bit like I’ve dropped the “fashion blogger” ball here, really.

It’s not surprising, though: I mean, I didn’t actually intend to have such a long break from outfit posts (I had this cute little idea that I’d continue doing them all the way through my pregnancy and recovery, thus helping provide realistic outfit inspiration to pregnant and postpartum women. Now, if you’ll excuse me for a minute, I just need to pick myself up off the floor, where I’ve been rolling around laughing at my stupid, last-year self, because, O RLY, AMBER? YOU THOUGHT YOU’D DO THAT, LIKE SOME KIND OF FASHION BLOGGING SUPERWOMAN, DID YOU? HAHANOPE.), but, well, you know… As I said in my post on postpartum body issues, I’ve really not been feeling – or, indeed, looking – myself since about four months into my pregnancy, and my self-confidence has taken a serious hit because of it.

Still. Last week I finally got back into my pre-pregnancy jeans again: and not even the “fat” jeans I mentioned in my previous post – my actual, I-used-to-wear-these-when-I-still-looked-like-myself jeans, that I haven’t been able to get past my hips since around week 12 of my pregnancy.  YAY ME.

Before you go getting too impressed by this small victory, though, I’ll just go ahead and admit that while I might be back in my jeans, I’m only able to wear them with the help of my growing collection of loose sweaters right now, because, MUFFIN TOP. Oh my holy hell, the MUFFIN TOP. (Also, I could really go for an actual muffin right now. That wouldn’t really help my case, though, would it?) I suspect there will be a LOT of loose sweaters in my future because of it: in fact, I KNOW there will be, because, well, I ordered a bunch of them the day we took these photos. They’re on their way to me as I write this.

So. Jeans and sweaters might not be very interesting, but they’re pretty much all I can manage right now, so it looks like you’ll be seeing quite a bit more of them. That’s assuming I manage to get my act together enough to actually get out and take more photos, though: pray for me, people…

  1. You look amazing, even in jeans and a jumper! Don’t put pressure on yourself to look a certain way or be back to wearing the most put together looks, because it’s the only time of your life it’s acceptable to wear joggers 7 days a week 😉 Enjoy it x

  2. Ok maybe muffin top (and if I could put that in teeny invisible letters I would) but also: The Boots! The Bag! The Jacket! The Jeans! The Hair! You look glorious, woman.

  3. Yay you indeed!! Fab outfit! I love denim with green.

Enjoy being out and about ☺. Looking great in these photos – it won’t be long till you’re back to being you!

  4. You look stunning as ever Amber – the fact that you look so great but are so totally honest about your post-partum* body issues is nothing short of inspirational. A lesser blogger would have been all “hey, back in my pre-pregnancy clothes looking fabulous, no big deal” and not been honest about the fact that of COURSE your body’s going to be different when it’s been home to a tiny human! X
*Auto-correct wanted to change that to post-party! One hell of a party…!

  5. Yay for outfit post victories! Hopefully now the plaster’s off it’ll be a little easier… but I say this as a naive pregnant lady who’s just about to hit 18 weeks and has no idea of the body issues hell before her… Although I kind of do, because you’re being so honest about it and genuinely that is such a refreshing, positive thing for someone like me. It’s no help to me when bloggers etc set ridiculous standards for post-pregnancy body image! I might not know exactly what’s coming but even I know that’s not REALITY.

  6. ….. I don’t think I looked that put together or fashiony till my baby was at least 3 months. Not that it is a competition. But really, you look fabulous and I’m impressed you got a fashion post up!

  7. You look really awesome, Amber!! It is amazing what getting fully dressed and pulling yourself together does for the psyche, isn’t it? I don’t know if this is TMI or not, but what the heck, just putting it out there anyway — do you find that the post partum “muffin top” is really different from the I’ve eaten too much for the past 5 months and need to stop “muffin top”? It isn’t really a “fat” muffin top, but rather a spongy, extra skin that needs to go back to normal muffin top? At least that is what I found… its like a completely different beast that needs to be conquered…

  8. Love the outfit, you look gorge! You did the outfit justice.
You should be proud you fit into them jeans and you’ve got that post baby glow that just makes the photos pop!

  9. You look great, and it’s nice to see your outfit posts again! Honestly, I work at home and my uniform is pretty much pjs and I have no new baby as a reason, so I’m super impressed you’re this put together 🙂

  10. I’m falling in love with your jeans right now… and I already have SO MANY… (*Don’t buy them, Moni, just don’t!*)

    You look GREAT! 🙂
