My Blogging Secrets – Paperback Edition
When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a Jedi Knight when I grew up.
It, er, didn’t really work out. QUELLE SURPRISE.
I decided I’d be a show-jumping star instead. Or a detective. Or a show-jumping detective, who was also a pop star, and who’d write award-winning novels on the side – you know, in between all of the pop concerts and book tours, and competing for Britain in the Olympic Show Jumping Team?
Er, none of those career paths really worked out either, surprisingly,
Instead, I went into journalism, and then PR. I’d probably have continued down that path indefinitely, too (I’m lazy that way), but then what happened? My husband went and got kidney failure, that’s what.
It was a bit of a bummer, to be perfectly honest.
There was, however, one positive side effect of those two years of dialysis, while waiting for a transplant: it proved to be just the kick up the backside I needed to prompt me to quit my job, and start this blog.
That was over 10 years ago.
Now, this blog – the one that’s filled with outfit shots, beauty product reviews, pregnancy musings and, well, quite a few random acts of stupidity – is my full-time job, and the reason I’m able to pay my mortgage every month and buy way too many pairs of shoes. It took a long time, and a lot of hard work, but, I somehow managed to turn my blog into a career: and, OK, it might not be quite as good as “show jumping detective”, true, but it’s a job I love, and now I’m sharing the secrets of how I managed to go turn my fledgling blog into one of the top fashion and lifestyle blogs in the UK today, in a book: My Blogging Secrets.
